The nucleus for The Old Engine Clipping Archive was started in 1998 with a simple goal: to preserve the rich history of engines and machinery as documented in newspapers, magazines, and advertisements throughout the decades. What started as a personal collection of vintage engine ads has grown into a community-driven archive spanning multiple countries and centuries.

Started with systematic collection of engine adverts, and started aquiering old engine brochures, when i recognized the need to preserve historical materials before they were lost forever.
Started with a Wiki, DieselWiki catalougeing engines from the companies surronding Daimler, Benz & Maybach. And a lot of other engines.
Server crashed, and years of work went down the drain. Project on the backburner for a year, before a new server was aquered, and move to a new serverfarm.
The team grows, we add Lars Aksel, Jacob, and Kjell-Åke to the team, the wiki keeps growing.
Moving out the non Daimler, Benz, and Maybach engines into the Motorwikien wiki for the Nordic engines and makers.
Started building a simple website for publication of our personal archive of engine related clippings. Beta testing starts late 2025.
Launched the public digital archive, making our collection accessible to researchers and enthusiasts worldwide.
Over 37 clippings preserved, with new materials added weekly, by the peolple behind mtdb.no.
